GL FILM is already used in a wide range of fields throughout the world and has an extensive track record.
Traditional brick-type drink cartons made long-term storage of drinks possible by using aluminum foil on the inner surface. However, separation of the aluminum foil from the paper requires considerable effort, and cartons are often discarded without being recycled. TOPPAN has adopted GL FILM, with similar barrier performance to aluminum foil, for paper-based drink containers. In addition to enabling storage at atmospheric temperature for long periods, these containers can be recycled in the same way as milk cartons and other aluminum-free paper containers.
In addition to preservation, packaging for storing blood for transfusion has to perform well on various fronts, such as heat resistance and oxygen and water vapor barrier properties. This means that with traditional soft packs used for storage, desiccants and deoxidants are often packaged with the packs, increasing the risk of problems such as foreign matter contamination. Using GL FILM, TOPPAN has developed a soft pack for blood for transfusion with high barrier performance. This enhances the safety of blood storage over long periods, thereby helping to resolve the issue of shortages of blood throughout the world.
Warpage and distortion of wooden doors are often due to the difference in humidity between the room side and corridor side caused by air conditioning and direct sunlight. This is because trace moisture contained in the materials is drawn to the side with lower humidity. With traditional décor sheets, this moisture migration could not be prevented. However, when used in décor materials for doors, GL FILM’s high water vapor barrier performance minimizes moisture migration and helps to reduce warpage and distortion.
